The Interior Ministry (MUP) has spent a total of RSD 150mn to secure the Belgrade gay parade, Hillary Clinton's visit, and last weekend's football derby. This is according to Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, who spoke in Belgrade on Monday. MUP adds up cost of unrest, state visits The minister stated that the figure (amounting to some EUR 1.4mn), does not include value of damaged vehicles and police gear, nor the money rewards given to some officers. Dacic reminded the public that it took 5,600 policemen to secure the gay parade, while 4,000 were assigned to the U.S. secretary of state's visit and the Belgrade football derby, respectively. "The hooliganism problem is here, but it cannot be solved merely with a large police presence," the minister noted, and spoke in favor of adopting laws that would seek to solve the problem by preventing it.
