"We believe that the Pride Parade will be held"

The Vice-President of the Government, Zorana Mihajlović, has stated today that due to the business trip she will not be able to be present on the Parade, scheduled for September 28, but she pointed out that the attitude of the Government to the manifestation is well known and that she truly believes that it will be held.

"I will be on the citizens’ reception in Vrsac on that day and that is why I will not participate in the Parade", said Mihajlović to journalists, answering the question whether she will show up on the Pride Parade on Sunday, September 28.

Chief Negotiator for Serbia’s accession negotiations with the EU, Tanja Miscevic, as well as the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Michael Davenport, as they have said, will participate in the Pride Parade.

"I intend to participate in the Pride, my standpoint on this has been known for a long time and it is very important to let all citizens freely express their differences. I am glad that the Government is aware of those obligations", said Davenport after the conference held with the aim to present "The Guidelines for the inclusion of civil society organizations into the process of the enactment of regulations".

Miščević also said she will not participate because she considers it to be her duty, but because she deeply believes in the right of gathering.

Goran Miletic of the Organizing Committee of the Pride, said to Radio B92 that the Pride Week would start start today by opening in KC Grad. During the week there will be exhibitions, debates, discussions with the community, and many other programs.

Debate things ending with a big concert on Friday, the Forum will be organized on Saturday in which guests from from international organizations from abroad and also a lot of activists from abroad will participate, says Miletic. He said that also local public figures, including politicians, will take part in the Forum.
