Serb suspected of killing one, injuring another Albanian

GNJILANE A Kosovo Albanian from the village of Pones near Gnjilane was killed and his brother wounded when a Serb shot them Friday, Kosovo police’s Shaban Azizi says. The suspect is currently on the run. Azizi could not say who owned the forest where the murder had occurred. Pones residents told Tanjug on Friday that the Serb shot at the two Albanians when he caught them stealing timber. A special unit of the police has surrounded Pones, where around 700 Serbs reside, and has been searching the houses. Serb Momcilo Savic was arrested for helping the suspect. The local Serbs fear that Albanians will retaliate against them and have therefore requested from the Kosovo police to protect them. Poneš residents told Tanjug on Friday that the Serb shot at the two Albanians when he caught them stealing timber.
