Charges have been brought against 7 Serbs from Gorazdevac for attacking UNMIK bodyguards on Dec. 7. According to a Pristina news agency, those charged include Milic Milicevic, Milivoj Zdravkovic, Radojko Dunjic and Dusan Manojlovic. 7 Serbs to be charged over scuffle with UNMIK Regional police spokesman Zecir Kelmendi said that the charges were brought at the end of last year, on the basis of several witness statements, and analysis of footage of the incident. District Prosecutor Agim Kurmeha, who is leading the case, said that the four suspects were accused of endangering the lives of UN mission representatives and others. If convicted, they face prison sentences of between one and five years. The prosecutor confirmed that the suspects will be questioned on January 18, after which the prosecutor will decide on the exact nature of the charges. UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker and KFOR commander Xavier De Marnhac spoke with Serb representatives from the town on December 7. According to the charges, a group of Serbs initially verbally abused Ruecker and De Marnhac as well as other KFOR members and the UNMIK chief’s security contingent, before physically attacking them. At the time, Ruecker blamed Belgrade for the incident. The Belgrade authorities and Gorazdevac Serbs dismissed these accusations, and retaliated by laying the responsibility with Ruecker.
