New US anti-Russia sanctions

New US anti-Russia sanctions "appear at odds with intl. law"

A statement said that "that French and European laws would need to be adjusted in response and added that discussions would be necessary at European Union level because of the potential impact on European citizens and firms."

Earlier, Germany warned it would be unacceptable if the US used anti-Russia sanctions as "a means of industrial policy" and urged "close cooperation between Washington and Europe in coordinating the proposed sanctions."

On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of the new sanctions, Reuters said.

The bill is yet to be approved by the administration of US President Donald Trump, Sputnik reported on Wednesday, citing Kemlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying Russia would formulate its reaction to the new anti-Russia sanctions bill "after careful analysis."

The decision will "undoubtedly" be taken by the head of state, Peskov added.
