Authorities and opposition sign agreement

President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders on Friday afternoon signed the agreement that should enable early elections, constitutional reform and the formation of a government of national unity.

However, one of the opposition leaders, Vitaly Klitschko, said before the signing that "further talks with people in the streets will be necessary."

Although the Ukrainian presidency announced on Friday morning that the agreement had been reached in negotiations that lasted all night between the government, the opposition, the EU and Russia, European diplomats later in the day said that "the subject of the agreement ought to be treated with caution, because the situation is delicate."

As the BBC reports, the leader of the radical nationalist group "Right Sector", one of the leaders of the protests, has rejected the deal signed today.

Dmytro Yarosh wrote on Facebook that the deal "contained no firm pledges" that the president would resign and dissolve parliament.

"The national revolution continues," the post said.
