Epidemiologists continue to claim that three million vaccinations will be needed to avoid a swine flu pandemic in Serbia, expert Predrag Kon said. “As far as I am concerned, as the president of the working group, I have no dilemma that Serbia needs to use all three million vaccinations. That plan was made in 2005 for the arrival of a pandemic,” Kon said. Experts claim vaccinations are still necessary “The working group will meet to discuss it, we will work with what is decided, but I repeat that for the Serbian citizens, in order to avoid an unwanted situation, it would be best for a massive vaccination with all the vaccines that were planned to be used,” he said. Regarding the investigation that could be launched by the Council of Europe at the end of the month for confirming the truth about the swine flu, Kon said that it is a good idea. “It is clear that there are suspicions of such an epidemic which are very important and should be cleared up. Since these questions mentioned for the investigation have been an issue for months, I think that it is a good idea to finish this up. As soon as this suspicion is removed, when these investigations give their results, this will not be a topic any longer,” Kon said. Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic announced that the government will make a decision in the coming weeks for investigating the need for vaccines against the swine flu. He said that the Batut Institute and a special working group will begin an expert analysis on the first month of vaccinations and on further vaccinations and needed supplies.
