SPC Synod appoints new members

The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) this week appointed four new members. This came at the end of the regular May session of Church's top legislative and administrative body. SPC Synod appoints new members Montenegro-Adriatic Coast Metropolitain Amfilohije (Radovic) will continue presiding over the Synod as its fifth member and deputy of SPC head, His Holiness Patriarch Pavle, who has been receiving medical treatment since November 2007. Amfilohije is the sole bishop empowered to sign documents in the name of the patriarch and to act on his behalf. The new Synod members are Nis Bishop Irinej, Backa Bishop Irinej, Dalmatia Bishop Fotije and Zahumlje-Herzegovina Bishop Grigorije, who are replacing Zica Bishop Hrizostom, Bihac-Petrovac Bishop Hrizotom and Milesevo Bishop Filaret.
