The terrorist attack that took the life of Benazir Bhutto dominates today's front pages of the Belgrade dailies. ALO—The paper brings rare interview with the wife of President Boris Tadic, Tatjana, who is extremely media-shy, but now confesses, "Boris is stubborn, but I always win", apparently in reference to their family life. Press: Bhutto assassination, local crime scene Then attention turns to crime, in an article headlined, "Prison guards deal drugs too". BLIC—"Humiliating Russian NIS offer", says the daily on the front page, quoting a statement from Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic, who is ready to snub the EUR 400mn offer, saying it is only half of the oil monopoly's bookkeeping value. Public health issues mix with criminal behavior on the part of food manufacturers, explored under, "Metal chippings found in sugar". The daily also lists what it deems to be "five worst privatizations" in the country. BORBA—"Benazir Bhutto murdered", the newspaper leads on the front page. "Elections in May?" looks at a possible local ballot date in the spring of next year. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Benazir Bhutto assassinated", is the top story covered in today's issue. "Price of loans goes up", warns about rising inflation, which is likely to end the year at 10 percent. As for Milorad Ulemek, a.k.a. "Former minister's big ear", is a story about a decision to start an investigation against Djindjic-era police minister Dusan Mihajlovic, as well as the security agency, BIA, chief at that time, Goran Petrovic, on suspicion that the illegally wiretapped two persons. DANAS—The daily also leads with the Bhutto assassination, "Benazir Bhutto murdered". The date of Serbia's local elections is reported under, "Dulic: Elections probably on May 11". As for the ongoing presidential campaign, another article claims that Tadic and Nikolic will hold their final conventions at Belgrade's Arena venue. KURIR—"Mafia kidnaps in court", the tabloid alleges, quoting a local court incident, and says it received threats from the underworld. "A fortune was offered for Sartid", says another report, looking into a rejected bid for the Smederevo-based steel manufacturer that was eventually sold to U.S. Steel. POLITIKA—The paper leads with reports and photographs on the front page from the scene of the terrorist attack in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, that took the life of Benazir Bhutto. "Velja's candidature instead of open support", looks into the coalition politics and conundrums surrounding Boris Tadic's presidential bid that still lacks backing from the DSS-NS leaders. PRESS—Finally, the tabloid's focus today, as on many other days, are the Zemun Clan members and their crimes. Thus, "Zemun Clan buried 200 kilos of cocaine!", reports about alleged exploits of Aleksandar Simovic, a gangster now facing multiple murder and kidnapping charges.
