Two victims in suspected cult murders

Police have recovered mutilated bodies of Vasilije Trbovic, 26, and his five-year-old nephew from the Danube Saturday. They shortly afterwards arrested 26-year old Danijel Jakupek, as he was already suspected of committing the double murder. Meanwhile, Tanjug agency reported that police found what they described as satanic cult literature while searching Jakupek’s house. Manuals on body dismemberment were also discovered, unofficial sources say. B92 has also learned that Jakobec, after hours of questioning, confessed to the crime. Police sources say that he killed the boy first in a bathtub in his house using a knife and a handsaw, and murdered Starcevic in the nearby woods later. Jakupek disposed of the dismembered bodies and murder weapons by putting them in a barrel which he then threw into the Danube. Interior Minister Dragan Jocic reacted to the murders Saturday by telling reporters Serbian police will lead a more intensive campaign against cults whose rituals have fatal outcomes, or those that encourage its members to commit suicide. "There is a department within the MUP that deals with cults, however, considering the consequences of the cults' actions in the past couple of years, we will make their surveillance and registering a priority and raise it to a strategic level," he said.
