Migrants "fight with knives" to get on train to Serbia

The train was scheduled to depart at 10:00 CET but was delayed, and "a torrent of migrants, over a thousand of them, fought among themselves to board," Tanjug reported, adding that "several people were lightly injured."

According to the agency, migrants were "shouting, pushing, kicking and threating one another with sticks and knives," while "only the fastest and the strongest managed to get on."

A train window got shuttered in the stampede, Tanjug said.

An estimated 1,000 migrants are taking this route every day, in a bid to reach Serbia and then Hungary, with western European countries as their final goal.
