The Kukuriku Coalition gained a convincing win in Croatia's parliamentary elections on Sunday. It appears the coalition has alos won an absolute majority in thefuture Croatian parliament. Croatia's ruling party suffers defeat Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP) Zoran Milanovic will be the country's next prime minister. Besides SDP, the coalition includes the Croatian People's Party, Istrian Democratic Assembly and Croatian Party of Pensioners. The Kukuriku alliance will have 77 mandates, while the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in coalition with the Croatian Citizen Party and Democratic Party is likely to win 48 seats in the parliament, including all three diaspora mandates, the State Election Commission (DIK) told a midnight press conference. Milanovic said that the Kukuriku coalition will put an end to many Croatian traditions, which means they will function entirely transparently and solely in the interest of the citizens. Croatian President Ivo Josipovic congratulated the Kukuriku coalition on the victory, and expressed belief that he will have better cooperation with the new government than with the administration of the outgoing Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.
