Bulgaria's customs officers confiscated 79 kilograms of heroin on a border crossing between that country and Turkey. The drugs were reportedly being smuggled to the German market, and were found in a car with German license plates. Bulgaria seizes 79 kilos of heroin The driver had dual Turkish-German passport, while another man in the car was a Turkish national. Both have been placed under arrest. The Kapitan Andreevo crossing, where the drugs were seized on Saturday, is considered one of the more important routes for the heroin traveling from Asia to Europe. Since the start of 2008, 330 kilograms of heroin were seized there, while Bulgaria reported a total of 1.1 tons of the drug confiscated last year on its borders.
