SNS official apologizes to SRS for her "monkeys" remark
Namely, Obradovic referred to SRS members of the Serbian National Assembly as "monkeys" whose role is to "entertain.""Although I was provoked by the behavior of the SRS deputies, who were blocking the work of the committee the entire time and, in a planned manner, prevented a discussion envisaged in the agenda, I consider the language I used to have been inappropriate, and certainly unacceptable. I will continue to, as before, fight for the dignity of the Assembly and protect the reputation of this representative body of all citizens of Serbia," Obradovic said.
The committee session incident occurred when Natasa Jovanovic (SRS) complained that consultations about the new head of the committee and their deputies was done "behind the scenes." Obradovic responded by saying:
"You'd like to conduct foreign policy? You've been invited here to act like monkeys and entertain people. All you do is stupid things."
Jovanovic reacted to this by urging Obradovic to "get civil" and also, mentioning the high-raking SNS official's past career as "a newsreader from Kraljevo (a town in central Serbia)."
Eventually, Zarko Obradovic (SPS) was elected as chairman of the committee.
