7 injured, 2 arrested during rioting in Pristina

According to Baki Kelani, protesters in Pristina used Molotov cocktails and rocks to attack the police preventing them from entering the courtyard of the Assembly of Kosovo.

The protest was organized to prevent a sitting of the assembly, as opposition parties stand against an agreement on the setting up of a future community of municipalities with a Serb majority, and against another, that concerns the demarcation of "the border" with Montenegro.

As opposition MPs were leaving the assembly - where they used tear gas to interrupt the session - they clashed with the police.

According to the photographs published by media in Pristina, Self-Determination member of assembly Albin Kurti has been injured. He previously admitted to using tear gas inside the assembly.

Kelani said that the police acted in accordance with the law.

"We have taken all measures to ensure order before and during the session of the Assembly of Kosovo," Kelani said.

This was the sixth time that the opposition threw tear gas into the assembly hall. However, the ruling parties today managed to hold the session "in an alternative space," without the presence of the opposition, and under heavy police security.

According to one opposition leader, Ramush Haradinaj, the clashes on Tuesday occurred because the police "wanted to arrest Kurti as he was leaving the assembly."
