"EU to hail progress Serbia has made in energy sector"

Speaking at a conference on the impact of the EU energy and climate policy on Southeast Europe’s oil sector economy at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Miscevic said that the energy sector was dealt with in negotiating Chapter 15 and stressed that the chapter was closely linked to Chapter 27, relating to environmental protection and climate change.

Serbia has been instructed that these are areas we need to pay special attention to because of the potential lying here, so important to the country’s economic development, said Miscevic.

Speaking about the energy sector, Deputy Director of the EU Energy Community Secretariat Dirk Buschle said that the Western Balkans region was fully integrated with the EU when it comes to energy.

Serbia has adopted regulations that are in accordance with the requirements of the Energy Community even before the deadline, which even some EU-member states were not able to do before them, he said.
