Djuric: We hope northern Kosovo will get waterworks

He said the contractor had assured him that the waterworks could be constructed within 14 months if all the administrative obstacles were removed.

"We are going to try to remove of the obstacles by working with the provisional authorities in Pristina and the international community and make sure that the necessary construction material and equipment are transported without problems," he noted.

The investments in the construction are made in a way that ensures the funds are spent appropriately, he pointed out.

"I hope we will be able to start using regional waterworks with the capacity of 200 l of drinking water per second within a year," Djuric pointed out.

Former Head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo Aleksandar Vulin laid the cornerstone of the new waterworks in September 2013.

The value of the northern Kosovo waterworks project is almost EUR 11 million.
