Opposition DS leader Dragan Đilas has said that he will head the election list in the March 16 polls that will be "a voice against the regime led by the SNS."

For that reason, he added, there was "much symbolism" in the support the party received during the celebration of 24 years since its founding from Ružica Đinđić, and also from "the symbol of civil Serbia, Vesna Pešić."

Đilas said that those former officials leaving the party - who include former leader Boris Tadić - are doing so because they "did not accept a clear policy and stances," and added he was "certain this is making the party stronger and increasing the support of the citizens."

The Democratic Party is going to these elections with a team of people who have achieved results in the past, Đilas said.
