Serbia’s Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic has said that any operation of the Kosovo police (KPS) in the north would a “dangerous adventure”. He added that the KPS operation in northern Kosovo could cause a violent response and that it needed to be prevented. “Operation in north would be dangerous” Ivanovic told Beta news agency that he believed that the international community representatives would realize “all the detrimental effects of such an adventure” and possible consequences and that they would prevent the KPS from sending its special “or any other units” to northern Kosovo. The state secretary stressed that the northern Kosovo represented a political problem that could not be solved by force because it would in that case “cause a violent response that could not be stopped”. “This is a dangerous adventure that needs to be prevented, we have to make room to solve problems peacefully,” Ivanovic noted. He said that he believed that the announcement was serious but added that the statement itself was aggressive and that it could animate extremists which would not lead anywhere.
