United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader Mladjan Dinkic says that Serbia should not continue to follow the policy of the Democratic Party (DS). He added that the country should not accept the road offered by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) either and stressed that the URS’ plan was the best option. DS, SNS not good choices, URS leader says “I do not want (SNS leader) Tomislav Nikolic’s path either. We need neither the first of the second option, but the third, a clear path and a clear plan proposed by the URS,” he said at a pre-election rally in Belgrade on Saturday. Dinkic stressed that he was “disappointed” with the way the DS had been running the country “because not a single problem can be solved with a strong president and weak prime minister and finance minister”. The URS leader believes that Serbia should not continue the policy that had been led so far by the prime minister, agriculture and finance ministers but that the SNS is not a good choice either. He pointed out that he was not satisfied with the number of investiors in Serbia “because there are still factories from the past century in many towns and municipalities in the country, even in Belgrade, and many of them still work”. Dinkic criticized the government’s economic policy, especially subsidies for agriculture, but also policy in the construction sector. He stressed that the EU candidate status was not enough “because Europe will not abolish taxes in Serbia, Serbia has to do it by itself”. Commenting on the presidential elections, he said that Serbia needed a president who would not work in the interest of any party but in the interest of all citizens instead, and that the URS candidate and Health Minister Zoran Stankovic would be the best solution.
