Judiciary reform "will be completed"

Serbia will fully cooperate with the European Commission (EC) in the reform of its judiciary system, Justice Minister Snežana Malović said in Brussels.

Serbia will fully cooperate with the European Commission (EC) in the reform of its judiciary system, Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said in Brussels. She assured European Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding that Serbia's judiciary reform will be completed in time to be included in the EC annual report on the country's progress, which should also include the EC opinion on Serbia's application for status of candidate for European Union membership, and which should be made public on October 12. On the basis of the answers, Brussels will assess Serbia's readiness to start the accession process. European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule said Monday that the report will include everything that will be done in the reform process by September 1, when the drafting of the reform must be completed.

Malović is a member of the delegation which delivered Serbia's answers to the EC questionnaire to Brussels on Monday. The delegation is headed by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković, and also includes Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić and Head of the EU Integration Office Milica Delević.

On the basis of the answers, Brussels will assess Serbia's readiness to start the accession process.

According to Cvetković, if Serbia wants to get the EU candidate status before the end of 2011, it should resolve problems pointed to by Brussels before mid-year.
