Chinese defense minister to visit Belgrade

Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie will be on a two-day official visit to Serbia starting Monday, September 7. In Belgrade, he will confer with top state officials on the political and military cooperation between Beijing and Belgrade. As planned, Guanglie will in Belgrade meet with President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, and foreign affairs and defense chiefs Vuk Jeremic and Dragan Sutanovac. The visit, first by a Chinese defense minister in 25 years, is taking place only weeks following Tadic's trip to China. Sutanovac visited China in November last year. On that occasion, he signed an agreement on cooperation in the area of defense with his Chinese counterpart.

The Chinese minister will visit Serbia within a European tour in the course of which he will also visit Bulgaria and Slovakia.
