Srebrenica declaration sent to parliament

The opposition Social-Democratic Union (SDU) has submitted its Declaration on Srebrenica to the Serbian parliament. The document envisages that the state would undertake an obligation to take all measures to protect the victims. The document also states that building a democratic and multiethnic society cannot be based on denial of crime and that respecting human rights means respecting the victims, while facing the past is the only way toward a new start of the democratic future. If adopted, the declaration will prohibit glorifying, denying or forgetting genocide, and will obligate the state to find and discover any ideological justification of crime, said reports.
