After talks with China's vice-president, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said China opposed an imposed Kosovo solution. Jeremic said in Beijing Thursday that he had been told by Zeng Qinghong that, when it came to the UN Security Council, China would oppose any outcome that was unacceptable to either side. "China against imposed Kosovo solution" The minister stressed that he was very pleased with the way the talks with the Chinese leadership had gone, during which they agreed that any solution to the Kosovo problem had to stem from a compromise. He added that Kosovo had not been the only matter under discussion. They had also touched on strengthening and extending bilateral, and particularly economic relations between the two countries. "In the 21st century, no-one will be successful at international relations without having a good knowledge of Chinese language, culture and their attitudes to international relations," stressed Jeremic. Zeng for his part highlighted the China-Serbia relations as "an example" of relations between big and small-sized nations. According to a press release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Zeng told Jeremic that China will make concerted efforts with the Serbian side to "consolidate mutual political trust and expand the bilateral pragmatic cooperation in the various fields." China appreciate Serbia's coherence to one-China policy and opposition to the Taiwan authorities' proposed referendum on UN membership in the name of Taiwan, Zeng noted. Jeremic reiterated that the Serbian government would "continue to stick to the one-China policy, oppose to the Taiwan authorities' proposed referendum on UN membership in the name of Taiwan and support China's reunification process."
