Members of volunteer unit sentenced to total of 40 years
The War Crimes Department of Belgrade High Court has found three members of a volunteer unit of the Bosnian Serb Army (VRS) guilty of war crimes.

The War Crimes Department of Belgrade High Court has found three members of a volunteer unit of the Bosnian Serb Army (VRS) guilty of war crimes. They were handed down sentences of 12 to 15 years in jail for war crimes against civilians, murder, robbery and multiple rape in Bijeljina, western Bosnia, committed on June 14, 1992. Members of volunteer unit sentenced to total of 40 years Dragan Jovic was sentenced to 15 years in prison, Zoran Djurdjevic to 13, and Alen Ristic to 12 years. Court President Vinka Beraha Nikicevic said that they were found guilty of inhuman treatment of civilians, and that Jovic killed a man. The convicted men and the prosecution are entitled to file appeals with the Court of Appeal. This case, known as "Bijeljina", was transferred by Bosnia to Serbia on the basis of an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
