Leskovac prison chief dismissed

Chief of the Leskovac District prison, Zoran Jovic, has been dismissed, it was announced on Monday. Dejan Kostic, the current prison chief in Vranje, will take his place. Leskovac prison chief dismissed Chief of the Treatment Department at the Administration for the Execution of Penitentiary Sanctions sector in the Justice Ministry, Damir Joka, said that Jovic was dismissed because of his objective responsibility in an accident that saw a prisoner shot and wounded. The 36 year-old prisoner from Aleksinac was wounded in the leg on September 28 while walking through the open part of the prison yard. According to police and prison officials, an unknown assailant wearing a ski mask shot and wounded him. According to prison officials, the attacker cut through the fence and entered the prison yard, which was lit with spotlights and under video surveillance. Leskovac police stated that the attacker has yet to be identified and that they are still looking into the circumstances under which the prisoner was shot.
