General subpoenaed in Hague case

Former Yugoslav Army General Aleksandar Dimitrijević has been served a subpoena to testify before the Hague Tribunal, the Interior Ministry has confirmed.

Former Yugoslav Army General Aleksandar Dimitrijevic has been served a subpoena to testify before the Hague Tribunal, the Interior Ministry has confirmed. Tanjug news agency was told at the Interior Ministry that he had been summoned to testify at the trial of former Serbian President Milan Milutinovic and five others charged with war crimes in Kosovo. General subpoenaed in Hague case The subpoena was delivered to him by the investigative judge, with the Milutinovic trial scheduled to begin on July 8. The Hague Tribunal ordered the Serbian authorities to subpoena General Dimitrijevic as soon as possible, setting June 30 as the deadline. President of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal Rasim Ljajic said that the Serbian authorities would act in accordance with the orders, as they had done in the past. He pointed out that the previous summons had not been served to Dimitrijevic because he had been recovering after heart surgery which he had undergone in the U.S., and for which the National Council had received all the paperwork along with a doctor’s opinion. According to Ljajic, the Hague Tribunal had been notified about this. Earlier, Hague Tribunal President Fausto Pocar had told the UN Security Council that Serbia had not been carrying out the court’s orders, including those in the case of General Dimitrijevic. Ljajic said that in so doing, Pocar had been looking to exert additional pressure on the Serbian authorities, and dismissed Pocar’s allegations, stressing that the Council was in regular communication with the Tribunal.

General subpoenaed in Hague case

The subpoena was delivered to him by the investigative judge, with the Milutinović trial scheduled to begin on July 8.

The Hague Tribunal ordered the Serbian authorities to subpoena General Dimitrijević as soon as possible, setting June 30 as the deadline.

President of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal Rasim Ljajić said that the Serbian authorities would act in accordance with the orders, as they had done in the past.
