Public company employees arrested

Police have taken into custody 31 employees of the public utilities company, Gradska Cistoca. Gradska Cistoca Director Dragan Ignjatovic, together with businessman and co-owner of the old Madona nightclub, Milan Kuzmanov, are suspected of heading a criminal group. The group is accused of defrauding the state to the tune of RSD 1.5bn (some EUR 19mn) between 2001 and 2007. The Special Prosecution for Organized Crime has been entrusted with the case, said prosecution spokesman Tomo Zoric. He said that the arrests had been carried out in cooperation with the Special Prosecution and the police. “The Special Prosecution will release more details on the case following expiry of 48-hour custody limit for the suspects,“ said Zoric.
