BELGRADE The forthcoming restructuring of public gas company Srbijagas cannot jeopardize the South Stream project in Serbia, Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said. "Restructuring can only contribute to South Stream so that everything that depends on Srbijagas, and (a future) TransGas in particular, will be better and more efficient," the minister said when asked whether the restructuring of the gas company would put the gas pipeline construction at risk. “Srbijagas restructure won’t jeopardize South Stream” Asked how Serbia will finance the construction of South Stream across Serbia, she said that ideas from Russia about the financing of that project were being considered, which would be in the best interest of Serbia and its citizens. Mihajlovic noted that a way would be found to protect the country's gas stability and security and build a section of South Stream, underscoring that Serbia needed the gas pipeline and the Nis-Dimitrovgrad one as well. South Stream is a pipeline under construction that should transport natural gas from Russia to EU countries. The gas pipeline starts from the south part of Russia, from the city of Anapa in Krasnodar Krai along the bottom of the Black Sea, through Turkish territorial waters, to Varna in Bulgaria, and would then branch into two sections. One would go from Bulgaria, underwater across Greece to Italy, and the other across Serbia and Hungary to Austria. Zorana Mihajlovic (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
