The Swarovski company, the town of Subotica and the Serbian government signed a contracts Tuesday on granting land for building a crystal factory in Subotica.

The Swarovski company, the town of Subotica and the Serbian government signed a contracts Tuesday on granting land for building a crystal factory in Subotica. Another contract was signed on awarding incentives to investors. Serbia gives Swarovski land, incentives for new plant The deal, according to which the Austrian manufacturer of crystals and jewelry will be granted the land for the factory and incentives for opening new jobs, was signed by the chairman of the Board of directors of the Swarovsky Markus Langes-Swarovski, Serbian Economy minister Nebojsa Ciric and Subotica mayor Sasa Vucinic. The signing in the Serbian Presidency building was attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic. Cvetkovic said after the signing that the agreements mean investments of EUR 21mn and jobs for 550 people. Tadic said that the arrival of the company Swarovsky showed once again Serbia's competitiveness regarding investments and opening of new jobs, as well as one more example of good cooperation between Serbia and Austria. Tadic added that the signing heralded the visit of Austrian President Heinz Fischer who is expected in Belgrade on Friday March 23. Langes-Swarovski said he hoped the company would introduce something beautiful in the lives of the Serbian people. The Swarovski company is planning to invest EUR 15mn and create 600 jobs in Subotica in the first phase, and to invest another EUR 25mn in the factory in the second phase, it was announced during the signing of the memorandum on the investment, between the Serbian government and Swarovski in November 2011. It was also said then that Swarovski will be given 7.8 hectares of publicly owned land free of charge, for building the factory. The deal, according to which the Austrian manufacturer of crystals and jewelry will be granted the land for the factory and incentives for opening new jobs, was signed by the chairman of the Board of directors of the Swarovsky Markus Langes-Swarovski, Serbian Economy minister Nebojša Ćirić and Subotica mayor Saša Vučinić.

The signing in the Serbian Presidency building was attended by Serbian President Boris Tadić and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.
