U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick stated on Friday that a study on the new model of economic growth of Serbia has been done. The aim of the study, made with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is to demonstrate the willingness of the US to assist Serbia in becoming more competitive and achieving a sustainable development. "U.S. wants to contribute to economic growth" The United States wishes Serbia to increase its competitiveness in the region, in Europe and in the world, underlined Warlick at the presentation of the Post-Crisis Model of Economic Growth and Development of Serbia for the period 2011-2020. She noted that, thanks to the USAID program in Serbia, the legislative framework that regulates the market has been upgraded, the banking sector reformed, and much work has been done regarding the pension and tax reform, as well as concerning the citizens' financial literacy. The U.S. will continue to support Serbia's economic growth and its reforms through the ongoing and future assistance programs, Warlick underscored and added that the program aimed at encouraging businesses, which should enhance economic growth and competitiveness in Serbia, is still active.
