Dinkic, Mercedes delegation talk cooperation A Merecedes delegation led by the company’s director for the Serbian and Montenegrin markets Stavros Paraskevaides spoke today with Dinkic about possible investment in Serbia. Bearing in mind Mercedes and FAP’s earlier long-term cooperation, Dinkic suggested to the delegation that a new strategic partnership be set up between the two companies, according to the joint investment model successfully adopted by Zastava and Fiat. The minister stressed that the conditions that Serbia was prepared to offer international companies for investment in the automotive industry were more attractive than those offered in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic or Poland, and expressed his confidence that Serbia would become the heartland of South East Europe’s automotive industry in the near future. He showcased to the Mercedes delegation the attractive incentives that Serbia had to offer international car manufacturers. Those incentives included a willingness to guarantee investors who wished to build car factories free land equipped with all the necessary communal facilities and the status of a tax-free zone. This would also involve exemptions from capital gains and local taxes for a period of 10 years, as well as state incentives to the tune of 25 percent for companies investing over EUR 200mn, and creating of over 1000 new jobs.
