Key interest rate remains unchanged

The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Monetary Board has decided at a meeting in Belgrade today to keep the key policy rate at 14.5 percent. A statement from the central bank said that the last interest rate hike, to 14.5 from 11.5 percent, took place in early March this year. Key interest rate remains unchanged The next session of the Monetary Board is scheduled for April 24, when the NBS will "look into the effects of the new monetary policy measures and consider mid-term prognosis". When it meets in a week's time, the Board will also appraise the level of restrictive measures needed in order to maintain this year's inflation target of between three and six percent, the statement said.
