The Pistons have told center Zeljko Rebraca that if does not undergo a catheter ablation procedure to correct his irregular heartbeat condition, he will not be back with the team next season. Rebraca, 30, is to inform the team of his decision soon.
After the Pistons' season ended, Rebraca said he wasn't sure what, if anything, he would do to help his heartbeat problem, which limited him to just 30 games last season.
"I have to think about it," Rebraca said shortly after the Pistons' season ended. "I don't want to end my career like this. But I don't want to have the (catheter ablation) procedure, either. We'll see."
If he chooses not to have the procedure, the Pistons will seek to have his contract, which would pay him $4.2 million next season, voided.
