  • Significant progress has been made toward establishing a United States military base in Poland, U.S. President Donald Trump said today.
  • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the European Union would continue to support Ukraine, adding that she had discussed the matter by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sikorski: “The EU shares Poland’s view that Russia poses a threat”

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said today that the European Commission’s proposal to establish a European Security Council shows that the European Union shares Poland’s view that Russia poses a threat.

“The European Union shares our assessment that Russia is a threat. I would like to remind you that the United States also signaled this to us at a very high level and in considerable detail,” Sikorski told Polish Radio, according to PAP.

Russian forces attack bus in Zaporizhzhia

Russian forces attacked a bus in Zaporizhzhia and subsequently carried out a follow-up strike. The number of people injured has risen to eight, said Mykhailo Semikin, acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

“Eight people were injured in a Russian FPV drone attack on a passenger bus. Four men and four women,” he wrote.

The regional prosecutor’s office said that at around 4:50 p.m., the enemy deliberately targeted a city bus traveling along the road. Passengers were on board at the time of the attack.

Attack on Moscow

Ukrainian attack drones are carrying out a major assault on the Russian capital, Moscow, and the surrounding area.

Local Telegram channels are reporting several hundred drones in the air, while flights to airports in the Moscow region have been suspended.

US moves closer to opening new military base in Europe

Significant progress has been made toward establishing a United States military base in Poland, U.S. President Donald Trump said today.

The U.S. president emphasized that the “bold leadership” of Polish President Karol Nawrocki had contributed to this development.

“If this comes to pass, the location will be announced very soon. It will be a historic step in the great alliance between the United States and Poland,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

 
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz met with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in June this year, at a time when Hegseth announced a review of the deployment of U.S. troops in Europe.
