Peskov: The war continues...

The war in Ukraine will continue if Kyiv keeps refusing “genuine” negotiations and serious decisions on a peaceful settlement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, stressing that Russia remains open to peace talks on Ukraine.

He stated that the war could end by the end of the day if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky orders the Ukrainian armed forces to withdraw from Russian regions, according to the RIA Novosti agency.

He said the peace process in Ukraine is on hold, but that this does not mean there are no contacts with the United States, adding that Russia continues to maintain regular communication with Washington.

Peskov emphasized that Russia is carrying out systematic strikes on military infrastructure in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, adding that Russia prefers to achieve its goals in Ukraine through peaceful means.

Politico: EU likely will not include a full ban on Russian oil in the 21st sanctions package

The EU is likely not to include a complete ban on Russian oil and restrictions on maritime services related to its transport in the 21st sanctions package, the Brussels-based outlet Politico reported, citing EU diplomats.

According to the report, preparation of the new sanctions package is focused on adjusting the current oil price cap mechanism.

Specifically, EU countries are considering maintaining the current oil price cap, while proposals for a full ban on Russian oil and a ban on maritime services have not yet gained sufficient support among EU member states and are unlikely to be implemented as part of the new package.
