Is Russia trying to intimidate Europe?

“This was clearly intended to intimidate Western countries so that they would not support Ukraine and would not travel to Ukraine to show their support. This was a message to the Western world,” Kallas told reporters ahead of the European Arctic Summit in Finland, Ukrinform reported.

She stressed that Europe should not give in to intimidation, but should instead step up its support for Ukraine.

“I think we should do the opposite. We should show that we are here for Ukraine and that we are not afraid,” Kallas said.

According to her, if Europe gives in to the pressure, Russia will achieve its goal of “conquering Ukraine.”

“This is not their ultimate goal. Their ultimate goal is much broader, which is why we must stand firm in our position,” Kallas concluded.

Ukrinform previously reported that French presidential candidates Gabriel Attal and Édouard Philippe called on Europe to step up its support for Ukraine following the Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border.
