A dramatic warning issued to a European country: "Russia will attack you"

The United States has warned Poland of the possibility that Russia may attempt to carry out a limited armed provocation on its territory in the coming months in order to test NATO’s readiness and unity, according to the Polish news portal Onet.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki told the outlet that Washington has repeatedly warned Warsaw about the alleged plot, which could be launched within just a few months. According to the report, Moscow’s aim would be to escalate tensions and pressure Western allies into halting aid to Ukraine.

“I think the United States are systematically informing Poland about new Russian plans for a conventional attack on NATO’s eastern flank, from which Poland is by no means excluded,” the Polish president said.

According to a Polish intelligence source, a “hybrid attack in a border region” would be the most extreme scenario, and an armed incursion involving Russian or Belarusian troops is also possible.

The attacks could also include drone strikes on critical infrastructure such as power plants, or simulated air attacks, which, according to the source, would force Poland to defend itself and activate its air defense systems.

Russia could present the attack as an accident caused by a GPS malfunction, which would lead troops to stray onto Polish territory, or as a rescue mission to recover a helicopter that experienced a malfunction.

Sources say Russia would assume that the United States would pressure Poland to negotiate with Russia or Belarus instead of using force and opening fire on soldiers.

They also noted that if Russian forces were to withdraw from Poland as a result of such negotiations, rather than being forced to do so, Moscow would consider it a victory.

Russia could even demand an end to Western support for Ukraine as a condition for such talks, according to the sources.

A security source from the Baltic region told the British Telegraph that such plans are allegedly being discussed in Moscow.

The British newspaper also reports that any potential ground provocation could be carried out from the Kaliningrad region or from Belarus, assessing that Russia, due to the fact that most of its forces are engaged in the war in Ukraine, currently does not have the capacity to launch a conventional war against NATO member states.

According to the paper, NATO could respond to any potential Russian provocation with strikes on military targets in the Kaliningrad region. The newspaper also recalls that the commander of the German Air Force, Holger Neumann, recently stated that Germany would defend “every inch” of NATO territory in the event of a conflict.

Poland’s Ministry of Defense has not officially commented on these claims, but a representative of the ministry confirmed to Onet that the Polish armed forces have already conducted exercises aimed at deterring possible provocations on the alliance’s eastern flank.
