U.S. strikes Iran for the 11th consecutive night
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out airstrikes against Iran for the 11th consecutive night, with the stated aim of weakening Tehran's ability to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement issued this morning, CENTCOM said that U.S. forces targeted "Iranian military operations centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure," Sky News reported.
The statement added that over the past three months, Iran has "attacked more than 30 commercial vessels transiting the international waterway that is vital to regional and global trade."
"These unjustified attacks have endangered hundreds of innocent mariners and undermined freedom of navigation," the statement said.
