Ukraine strikes Russian energy infrastructure and military targets, including unit linked to Bucha allegations

In addition to military targets, Ukrainian forces reportedly struck facilities connected to Russia’s energy infrastructure overnight, continuing increasingly intense attacks deep behind Russian lines.

According to Kyiv Independent, drones played a major role in these operations.

During the previous night, Ukrainian forces carried out coordinated strikes on multiple military targets in Russian-occupied parts of eastern and southern Ukraine. Among the targeted units was also a unit that has been linked to the 2022 Bucha civilian massacre allegations.

Ukraine drone forces strike Russian military positions in occupied territories

According to Kyiv Independent, Ukraine’s drone forces carried out a series of strikes on training camps and military positions of Russian units in occupied areas of the Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The operation was confirmed by the commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, known by the callsign “Magyar”.

Brovdi stated that the targets included training grounds and military facilities used by Russia’s 3rd and 36th Combined Arms Armies.

The Ukrainian side claims that a total of 21 successful hits were recorded across multiple locations during the operation.

Particular attention was drawn to a strike on positions of the 64th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.

Unit linked to Bucha deployment reportedly targeted; Casualties claimed

The unit in question was deployed in Bucha during the first weeks of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and is frequently mentioned in reports concerning alleged crimes against civilians.

According to preliminary data cited by Ukrainian military sources, at least nine members of the brigade were killed in the strike, another nine were wounded, and 13 are listed as missing.

Ukrainian military sources assess that the actual number of casualties could be higher, although these figures have not been independently verified.

Bucha became one of the most widely reported sites of civilian suffering following its liberation in the spring of 2022.

Available data indicate that more than 1,400 civilians were killed in the Bucha district, including 37 children.

Many victims were found in mass graves, while others were discovered on the streets of the town after Russian forces withdrew.
