Another "God of Chaos" asteroid is flying past Earth at extremely high speed
A space object, designated 2026 JH2, will pass very close to our planet today, at a distance smaller than the orbit of some satellites, while scientists warn that there is no cause for concern.

Astronomers have discovered a new large asteroid moving toward Earth at high speed, but experts say there is no reason for concern as there is no risk of impact.
The asteroid was first spotted on May 10 by astronomers at the Mount Lemmon Observatory in Arizona, and their observations were soon confirmed by other observatories around the world.
According to data from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the asteroid is moving at a speed of about 32,000 kilometers per hour, while it takes 3.7 years to complete one orbit around the Sun.
Its trajectory extends as far as Jupiter, and it is estimated to be about 35 meters wide, placing it in the same category as the famous Chelyabinsk meteor event, which exploded over Russia in 2013.

The closest approach is expected today around 6 p.m. Eastern U.S. time, when the asteroid will be about 91,000 kilometers from Earth, or roughly one quarter of the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
Although it will pass closer than some satellites, scientists emphasize that there is no risk to Earth.
The chance of the asteroid hitting our planet is zero percent, experts said.
At the moment of closest approach, the asteroid will be bright enough for amateur astronomers to observe with stronger telescopes, while a live broadcast will also be organized for the general public through theVirtual Telescope Project.
Scientists say that the passage of an object of this size at such a small distance is a very rare event, although smaller space objects burn up in Earth’s atmosphere almost daily.
The event also brought to mind asteroid 99942 Apophis, known as the “God of Chaos,” which will pass just 32,000 kilometers from Earth in 2029 and will be visible to the naked eye.
Although it is significantly larger and potentially more dangerous, experts also state that there is currently no possibility of it impacting Earth.
The next major challenge for planetary defense will be asteroid 2024 YR4, which will pass near the Moon in 2032, but the latest estimates have ruled out any possibility of a collision with Earth.
