Train derails, rescuers on site: Passengers trapped in wreck VIDEO

Seven people, including one child, were injured when a train derailed today in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, a representative of the regional disaster medical center reported.

According to the RIA Novosti agency, the incident occurred at 6:26 a.m. Moscow time near Bryandino station, when seven carriages of a passenger train from Chelyabinsk to Moscow derailed.

Traffic on that section has been suspended. Special trains have been dispatched from Ulyanovsk, Bugulma, Syzran, and Ruzaevka, while additional passenger carriages are expected to arrive at Bryandino station.

Rescuers, doctors, investigators, and forensic experts are working to deal with the aftermath. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
