Alert in the U.S.: Drones spotted over the base housing Rubio and Hagseth
Unidentified drones were spotted over the U.S. military base Fort Leslie J. McNer, where U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hagseth reside, prompting heightened security measures, U.S. officials said.
Drones have been spotted over the past ten days, prompting a White House meeting to consider possible responses. Officials have not determined the origin of the aircraft.
Meanwhile, the U.S. issued a global security alert for diplomatic missions and locked down several domestic bases, including the joint McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst base and McDill Air Force Base, raising the security level to “Charlie”—indicating intelligence of a potential threat.
Senior officials considered relocating Rubio and Hagseth, but no change of residence has occurred. A Pentagon spokesperson declined to comment on the situation, stating that reporting on the movements of officials is “extremely irresponsible” for security reasons.
