Is Xi Jinping giving Trump a billion?
China has confirmed that it received an offer from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Qiang, announced today that Beijing received an invitation from the U.S. after President Donald Trump announced the creation of a Peace Council for Gaza, reports Xinhua.
On Monday, Trump stated that he wants the founding charter and mandate of the Peace Council to be signed in Davos on Thursday, during the World Economic Forum.
The council, envisioned as a body under Trump’s leadership to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza, would initially focus on the conflict in Gaza, with plans to later expand to other conflicts, Bloomberg reported.
The draft founding charter states that each member state will serve a maximum of three years, while members contributing one billion dollars will receive permanent membership.
