Shock from the U.S.: Is Trump pulling out of the peace talks?

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, said his father could withdraw from the peace process for Ukraine, claiming that the issue is not a priority for Americans and arguing that Europe needs a better plan, Politico reported.

Trump Jr. said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prolonging the war because he knew he would never win an election if the conflict ended.

He stressed that Ukraine has long been burdened by corruption among its officials, claiming that such bribery fuels the war both in Moscow and in Kyiv. He also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Because of the war, and because he is one of the greatest marketing experts of all time, Zelensky has become almost a deity, especially on the left, where he could do no wrong — he was flawless," Trump Jr. said.

Trump Jr. also claimed—without providing evidence—that during a visit to Monaco this summer he noticed that 50 percent of the supercars, such as Bugattis and Ferraris, had Ukrainian license plates. “Do you think that money was earned in Ukraine?” he asked.

He also criticized the EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, saying that European sanctions were not working because they simply raised the price of oil, allowing Russia to use that money to fund its war. He described the European plan as “we’ll wait for Russia to go bankrupt,” which, he said, is not a plan.

Trump is unpredictable

When asked whether the U.S. president could walk away from Ukraine, Trump Jr. said: “I think he could.”

"What’s great about my father, and what’s unique about him, is that you don’t know what he’s going to do," he added. “The fact that he’s unpredictable… forces everyone to act intellectually honest.”

Trump has long had a difficult relationship with Ukraine, especially with Zelensky, and has often shown sympathies toward Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin. The Trump administration has been pressuring both countries to sign a peace agreement, but with little success.

"We want peace. We want to stop the deaths," Trump Jr. said.

The Caribbean is a greater danger to the U.S. than the war in Ukraine

Trump Jr. also defended his father’s military campaign against drug cartels, including airstrikes on ships in the Caribbean that are allegedly transporting drugs. He said the deaths of Americans caused by drug cartels cannot be ignored.

"That is a far greater clear and present danger to the United States than anything happening in Ukraine and Russia," he said.

A third term — we’ll see

He laughed when asked whether his father would run for a third term, which is constitutionally prohibited.

"We’ll see what happens," Trump Jr. said, adding that the president’s reluctance to rule it out might be a form of “trolling.”

"It’s funny to watch leftist heads explode every time this is mentioned," he said.

Trump Jr.’s accusations of corruption against Ukraine are likely to anger not only Ukrainian supporters but also many Democrats who believe the Trump family financially profits from its political power.

Expanding financial ties with Qatar

For example, the Trump family is expanding its financial ties with Qatar and other wealthy Arab states. This includes plans to build a luxury golf resort in Qatar.

Trump, like many of his predecessors, also considers Qatar a key geostrategic ally. The country hosts a U.S. military base and has helped mediate conflicts in Gaza and beyond.

Trump’s relationship with Qatar drew major attention this year when the Arab state virtually gifted the administration a luxury Boeing 747, refurbished for use as Air Force One.

At a May appearance at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, Trump Jr. did not rule out the possibility of a future presidential run, saying: “Maybe one day.”
