The LFB added that it took fire crews more than three hours to bring the blaze under control at the shop and the workshop behind it.

Around 15 people were evacuated from the area, and residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke, Sky News reported today.

In a statement, the LFB said it received the first call at around 6:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, adding that a total of 49 calls were made.

Officials said that parts of the ground floor, first and second floors, the basement, as well as part of a single-story workshop at the back of the shop, were engulfed in flames.

Fifteen fire engines attended the scene, and two 32-meter ladders were used to tackle the blaze from above.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. There are no reports of injuries.

In Forest Hill, the area of London where the fire broke out, both road and rail traffic were affected.
