Szijjártó said that long-term war preparations have become an accepted policy in Brussels and among Western European politicians, as evidenced by the proposed seven-year “Ukrainian budget,” which, as he put it, envisions “burning” European taxpayers’ money in Ukraine over the coming years, MTI reports.

Meanwhile, he added, communication channels with Russia are once again being closed.

“The current European political strategy, which cuts off communication with Russia, will clearly result in a long war — and in this long war, they want to burn the money of European nations by purchasing weapons, for example from America, and sending those weapons to Ukraine,” he said.

He added that the European economy is facing serious difficulties because its competitiveness is dramatically declining, with European companies currently paying three to four times more for energy than their Chinese or American competitors.

“Instead of using European financial resources to develop the European economy and restore its competitiveness, they want to send the money of European citizens to Ukraine in the coming years,” Szijjártó said.

He stressed that Hungary disagrees with this, that the Hungarian people must not be sent to Ukraine, and that the Hungarian government will not allow Hungarians to pay an even higher price for the war in Ukraine.

Szijjártó emphasized that Hungary has “enjoyed political stability for a decade and a half,” which has allowed the government to pursue a sovereign policy guided by national interests.

“This may be attacked from the outside, but it cannot be changed,” the Hungarian foreign minister concluded.

A new era of European politics

Commenting on the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic, Péter Szijjártó said that the convincing victory of Andrej Babiš means that another patriotic prime minister will take office. He added that Brussels is entering a completely new era of European politics, with three patriotic prime ministers from Central Europe — Babiš in the Czech Republic, Robert Fico in Slovakia, and Viktor Orbán in Hungary.

On the issue of joint European borrowing, Szijjártó said that Brussels is trying to implement a new process of centralization, but that Hungary follows its national interests and envisions the European Union as “an integration of countries focused on common interests, not as a federalist superstate.”

“The plans for centralization are part of a war strategy through which Brussels and a significant portion of Western European political leaders are putting at risk the money, security, and peace of European nations,” Szijjártó concluded.
