In an interview with Danish media, she called on Europe to take a deeper look at what the new security situation means for the continent and how it should respond to counter the threat.

The Danish Prime Minister said that the situation in Europe reminds her of the period between the two world wars in the 20th century, as the continent now faces threats stemming from the “real war” in Ukraine, which also involves a new form of broader hybrid warfare being waged against the country.

“The goal of hybrid warfare is to threaten us, to sow division and destabilization. One day they use drones, the next cyberattacks, and the following day sabotage. This will not end merely by strengthening our capacities,” Frederiksen stressed.

Her remarks came as EU leaders gathered for an informal European Council meeting in Copenhagen, largely focused on security and Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelensky joining via video link, The Guardian reported.

After that, a broader meeting of the European Political Community will be held tomorrow.

However, preparations for these meetings have been overshadowed by the recent appearance of drones and the major disruptions they caused in Denmark and the Nordic region.

Several countries, including France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and the United States, have offered support to ensure that these gatherings proceed without incident.
