We are talking about the former deputy head of the UNMIK administration.

Covey was the deputy head of the UNMIK administration from 1999 to 2001, when Bernard Kouchner was the head of UNMIK.

The defense of the former leaders of the so-called KLA began presenting evidence on September 15, and so far, former US Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin, international law expert Paul Williams, who was the legal representative of the Pristina delegation in Rambouillet, and John Duncan, who was an adviser to NATO Commander Wesley Clark from 1998 to 2001, have testified.

They claimed in their testimonies that the so-called KLA did not have a hierarchical structure and the zone commanders had the authority.

Former leaders of the so-called KLA are charged in the indictment with war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in illegal detentions in Kosovo and Albania from January 1998 to December 2000.

The trial began in April 2023, and the prosecution finished presenting its evidence on April 16, 2025. During that period, the prosecution called 125 witnesses to the courtroom and produced around 3,000 pieces of material evidence.

During 1998 and 1999, the so-called KLA members committed numerous crimes, murders and kidnappings against members of the army and police of the former Yugoslavia, Serbs and other non-Albanians, as well as Albanians who did not accept to be its collaborators or members.
