Shooting in the schoolyard: At least three students wounded PHOTO/VIDEO
At least three students were wounded today in a shooting at a high school in the town of Evergreen, and more than 100 police officers are still searching the school where the shooting happened, the local sheriff's office said.
The city of Evergreen is located about 45 kilometers southwest of Denver in the US state of Colorado.
Evergreen Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jackie Kelly said it is still being determined whether the shooting was carried out by one or more shooters, reports CNN.
Kelly said the shooting, which happened in the school yard, was reported to police at 12:24 p.m. local time, but authorities could not say whether it happened inside or outside the school building.
St. Anthony's Hospital CEO Kevin Cullinan told a news conference that three juveniles with gunshot wounds are being treated at the hospital, and that there are no more injuried students. The tragedy marks the 47th school shooting in the United States since the beginning of the year, 24 of which have occurred on college campuses and 23 on school grounds for preschool and K-12 students.
